During my Bible readings lately, I have been trying to find passages on Godly thinking. The first one I found was Philippians 4: 8:
“Finally brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy–meditate on these things.”
This verse tells us exactly what the nature of our thoughts should be.
The concept of Godly thinking can be found in 2 Corinthians 5:17:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
With our new identity comes (among many other things) a new perspective, which generally leads to a paradigm shift, or a change in thinking. How refreshing!
It is to our benefit to keep our mind pure.
Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”
This is one of my favorite verses. After experiencing the amazing peace of God, the thought of being without it gives me the incentive to focus on Him more. The thought of the absence of God’s peace is frightening.
It’s very easy to fall into negative thought patterns and very hard to get out of them, but, it is possible!
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
I don’t quote this as flippantly as I used to. No, I never doubted this verse but it wasn’t until several months ago that I really began to understand what it was saying. Galatians 2:20 says “I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me…….”
Christ, the creator of the earth, sun, moon and stars lives in me! That just struck me as amazing……
1 Corinthians 2:9-12,16
But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have freely been given to us by God.
For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Great post, loquacious! Isaiah 26:3 has grown to be one of my favorite verses this past year as well!
Thanks for ’stirring our thoughts up’!
Thanks loquacious, I really enjoyed all the verses and the thoughts you had on them. I think that our thinking has a lot to do with who we are and what we do, so we should certainly strive to have godly minds! Thanks for the encouragement and insight!
